In October, WhatsApp announced that the Message Yourself feature is coming to WhatsAppinfo. This feature will be available for both Android and iOS beta users.
Due to this, you can send messages to your own phone number. To check if this feature is available for you, you need to go to your contact list and see if your number is there.
Messages sent to you are visible on all devices you have linked. It lets you send some important files and messages to yourself.
This feature of WhatsApp is currently available only to limited users. Therefore, immediately all users may not get the facility of Message Yourself feature. Such a feature is already available in apps like Messenger.
